World’s first dedicated blockchain accelerator StateZero Labs announces first cohort

Last Updated on: 22nd November 2023, 12:40 am

London-based accelerator StateZero Labs, the world’s first solution-led blockchain Lab for startups, today announces the selection of its first cohort: with seven startups chosen from the 19 that advanced to pitch day.

Among the companies selected are startups aiming to use blockchain to disrupt ‘business as usual’ in well-established fields such as housing, fund management and the music industry, as well as optimising the supply chain in the container shipping sector.

There are also those who are enabling the creation of solutions to social & environmental challenges, platforms for reinforcing positive behaviour and inventive approaches to complex business process and operational issues.

The seven winners will each receive up to £50,000 in the form of an equity-free grant, mentoring by business leaders in the field, as well as one-to-one technical support from world-class blockchain developers to hone their offerings. The cohort will be based at StateZero Lab’s new office space in Kings Cross, London.

The equity-free model is part of StateZero Lab’s mission to help level the playing field for startups and allow founders more freedom. By providing funding up front, with a view to investing once the programme is complete, each party can perform the necessary due diligence and ensure the partnership is the right fit.

Tazz Gault, Director and Co-Founder of StateZero Labs, said:“The volume and quality of applications received, and the sheer range of different use cases from our final seven proves that there’s some incredible innovation in this space. Blockchain really can be used for business, and we hope by bridging the gap between humanity and tech, we’ll help to fizzle out the noise.”

Katie Mills, Director and Co-Founder of StateZero Labs, said, “Our ‘founder-first’ model is central to our values and what we are trying to achieve. We believe that a healthy founder equals a healthy business and to that end we have designed a complete wellness package which we encourage all of our startups to engage with alongside their business programme.”

The seven successful applicants for the first cohort are:
