The concept for the platform was born out of owner and founder Brian Muskett’s lifelong passion for animal rights. When searching for a vegan and cruelty-free perfume for his wife’s birthday, Brian was dismayed to discover that the perfect option may have been tested on animals. He then realised that there was no single online destination for vegan products and decided to create one.
Four years later, Vegan Supermarket UK is continuing to expand and attract new customers. Brian said: “Judging by our healthy conversion rate, customers seem to like what we are doing. But we’ll keep innovating to make their shopping experience the best out there.”
The platform offers several thousand eco-friendly and vegan products from fully vetted partner sites, and customers can browse products by category or search for specific retailers specialising in vegan products.
Brian hopes that the platform will divert customer spending away from products that cause animal cruelty and make ethical shopping more accessible. He said: “All our merchants are experts in what they do. For us to even try to replicate their operations would be a multi-million-pound venture and, quite frankly, unrealistic. We need to remain agile to flourish in a challenging commercial environment. Our main focus is to leverage our merchant’s expertise and passion to make vegan shopping a lot more accessible.”
