Montrose, Scotland – The Montrose Community Trust has announced that it has obtained planning permission for the Gable End Development Project, a significant undertaking that aims to transform the town of Montrose and the Angus region.
The Gable End Development Project, which is set to revitalize the historic Gable End of Montrose FC, will create a dynamic and inclusive community space for cultural, social, and educational activities. With state-of-the-art facilities, the hub will support a range of programs and initiatives, including employability workshops, arts and cultural events, and social programs aimed at enhancing wellbeing and reducing isolation.
According to the CEO of Montrose Community Trust, Chris Platt, the project marks a transformative moment for both the organization and the community it serves. He added, “The Gable End Project will be a space for inspiration, support, and celebration, helping Montrose thrive like never before.”
The project is expected to bring numerous benefits to the community, including enhanced community engagement, economic growth, and partnership opportunities with local charities and organizations. It is projected to boost service usage by 30-50% on top of the 12,000 people that MCT currently serves annually. The new hub is also expected to attract visitors and host events that will stimulate the local economy.
With planning permission secured, MCT is now focused on securing additional funding to move the project into its next phase. Construction is anticipated to commence in mid-2025, with the facility projected to open towards the end of next year.
The Trust invites local businesses, residents, and stakeholders to join in on this journey by contributing ideas and resources to ensure the success of the project.
