UK Visit by Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Teacher to Aid in Stress and Burnout Relief

British-born Tibetan Buddhist meditation teacher David Oromith is set to embark on a national tour throughout March 2025, offering practical talks and workshops in major UK cities. Overcoming his own struggles with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation, David now aims to share time-tested tools for navigating challenges, reducing stress, and cultivating genuine well-being.

In the UK, the term ‘How to reduce stress’ is searched on Google once every 10 minutes, highlighting the pressing need for effective stress management techniques. With this in mind, David’s events will operate on a pay-what-you-can donation model to ensure accessibility for all.

The tour, organized by UK-registered charity Samadhi, aims to help individuals break free from everyday stress and anxiety. David’s personal journey of overcoming his mental health struggles while working in the mental health services industry in Liverpool led him to discover the transformative power of Buddhism.

“Stress isn’t something the world does to you; it’s something we bring to the world. That was a huge realization for me,” David explains. “Once I realized I could change how I responded to life’s difficulties, I found new hope. I’d always assumed I was just ‘a stressed person.’ But if it was a mental habit, it could be changed. That insight saved my life. Now, I want to help others do the same.”

Through practical Buddhist teachings, particularly around meditation and thought transformation, David’s depression began to lift. Today, he is an ordained teacher in the Tibetan tradition, known for his warm sense of humor and down-to-earth style.

The tour will visit Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, Newcastle, and London between 3 and 22 March 2025. Each event will feature down-to-earth guidance on navigating work stress, relationship struggles, and more, as well as simple guided meditations and time for Q&A. Attendees will also receive support materials and have access to ongoing community follow-up online.

Tickets for the events operate on a pay-what-you-can basis, with suggested donations of £8, £10, or £15, and the option to attend for free if needed. This approach aims to make the events accessible to everyone, regardless of financial constraints.

David’s programs have already touched many lives, with attendees sharing their experiences of finding greater calm and gratitude for their lives. With more than 1 in 7 UK adults reporting that their mental health is either bad or the worst it’s ever been, David’s tour speaks to a widespread need for effective stress management strategies.

“People think you have to live on some remote mountaintop in a cave and meditate countless hours,” David says. “But I’m from a town in Wales, I lived through panic attacks, depression, and suicidal ideation, and I know how real life feels. There’s nothing special about me, and if I can do this, I feel anyone can.”

Samadhi, the UK-registered charity co-founded by David and Manu Oromith, aims to reduce suffering by integrating Buddhist wisdom with modern life. They offer regular retreats, online classes, community meetups, and resources to help individuals nurture stable well-being.
