The widespread adoption of artificial intelligence across industries has shifted responsible AI from being merely a compliance measure to becoming a core business priority, according to Trilateral Research, a leading provider of ethical AI solutions.
Recent findings from MIT Sloan Management Review highlight both challenges and opportunities in this space. While 85% of surveyed organisations admit to underinvesting in responsible AI practices, 70% of those implementing mature, responsibly developed AI systems report improved efficiencies and enhanced outcomes.

This collaborative approach addresses key concerns, such as data bias and system fairness.
“To address these biases, we need adequate transparency, explainability and literacy built in at the front end,” Wadhwa continues. “Then, everyone utilising the outputs must have a clear understanding of how to apply the data.” Cybersecurity also plays a crucial role in responsible AI. Rather than treating cybersecurity and ethical AI as separate issues, businesses are beginning to understand their interdependence. “Put simply, ethical AI is about doing the right things with AI, and cybersecurity ensures those systems are secure enough to uphold those principles.”

According to Wadhwa, building a successful responsible AI programme begins with education. “There’s a huge lack of understanding about what AI can do, so you need to demystify AI across your organisation,” he explains. Once this foundational knowledge is established, organisations can move on to conducting rigorous risk and impact assessments for each AI system. The final step is sustained vigilance. “To get the best ROI from your AI investments and protect your reputation,” Wadhwa advises, “you need continuous monitoring and risk management.” By following these steps, companies can create a strong framework for responsibly deploying AI.
