The Chilterns Neuro Centre, a renowned charity based in Wendover, has recently released the results of its latest membership survey. The survey, which was conducted among individuals affected by MS, Parkinson’s, and strokes, highlights the significant impact that the Centre has had on its members’ lives.
According to the survey, an overwhelming 99% of members would highly recommend the Centre to others with a neurological condition or their caregivers. This strong endorsement is a testament to the trust and satisfaction that members have in the services provided by the Centre.
Currently, the Centre provides support to over 840 individuals through a diverse range of services, including physiotherapy, exercise classes, and therapeutic leisure groups. In 2024 alone, the charity assisted an average of 369 individuals every month, helping them effectively manage their conditions and live life to the fullest.
The survey also revealed that 95% of respondents believe that the Centre provides services that are not available elsewhere. However, despite this, only 5.5% of the Centre’s annual funding of £1.2 million is received from the government. The remaining 94.5% is raised through various fundraising efforts, highlighting the crucial role of community support in sustaining the Centre’s services.
Moreover, the survey also showed remarkable improvements in members’ quality of life, with 91% agreeing that the Centre helps them manage their symptoms, 93% reporting improved physical health, and 90% stating that the Centre enhances their mental wellbeing. The Centre’s holistic approach was also highlighted, with 74% of respondents feeling that it helps them stay active in the community and 86% agreeing that it supports their independence. Additionally, 82% of members said that the Centre increases social contact and reduces loneliness.
Richard Parkin, CEO of the Chilterns Neuro Centre, expressed his delight at the overwhelmingly positive feedback from members, stating, “Our team works tirelessly to provide the best possible support, and these results are a testament to their dedication and the effectiveness of our services.”
One survey respondent shared their experience, saying, “The Centre has been a breath of fresh air for me, and the support I’ve received from everyone has been exceptional. The staff, volunteers, and other members have all been incredibly warm and supportive, and it has made an incredible difference to my recovery.”
