- Another product donation for frontline NHS workers
- 7,000 hospital and community outreach workers to benefit
- Gift will enable staff to disinfect their vehicles and homes
Thornton & Ross, part of the STADA Group, is donating 14,000 bottles of its best-selling disinfectant, Zoflora, to NHS workers in Huddersfield.
The company – one of the town’s largest employers – is giving 7,000 healthcare staff two 120ml bottles plus a trigger spray dispenser each to help them to eliminate bacteria and viruses on door handles and cars before they drive home to their families at the end of a shift.
Workers at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax and Acre Mills Outpatient Centre in Lindley as well as other locations within the community will each receive the bottles, as well as a leaflet outlining the local connection along with top tips on how to use Zoflora.
This is the second time the company has donated its award-winning products to NHS frontline staff – it is also giving samples of Cetraben® and Zeroderma® emollient cream to help workers suffering from skin issues caused by constant hand washing and wearing protective masks.
Thornton & Ross is also offering discounts on products for key workers through Blue Light Card, the UK’s largest Emergency Service and NHS discount scheme for the public sector, via its e-store shop.thorntonross.com.
Zoflora is the UK’s best-selling domestic disinfectant, with four million households selecting the brand for its cleaning prowess and range of attractive fragrances.
The bottles will be distributed through the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Charity, that fundraises for ‘extras’ such as specialist equipment to optimise patient care.
Roger Scarlett-Smith, Thornton & Ross Executive Vice-President, said: “We are committed to doing all we can for our incredible frontline NHS staff who are working night and day to provide care around the clock during the Covid-19 crisis – particularly those working in our home town of Huddersfield, close to our Linthwaite premises.
“Although healthcare workers have access to showering facilities before they head home to their families, we know that viruses can survive on surfaces such as door handles for days. Zoflora has activity against a wide range of bacterial and viruses, including coronaviruses. Providing hard-working staff with a simple and pleasant way to remove germs from their vehicles and homes will help them to stay safe.”
