The Resort Group Introduces Lineker’s Sports Bar to MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa

Last Updated on: 26th March 2025, 05:25 pm

The Resort Group was founded in 2007 by Robert Jarrett, an entrepreneur who established the company following a string of successful development projects across Canada and Spain. Drawing on his considerable expertise in real estate development, business strategy and corporate relations, Mr Jarrett continues to lead The Resort Group as executive chairman today. The organisation has gone from strength to strength, pioneering the tourism industry in Cape Verde, an island archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean, a few hundred miles off the West African coast.

The Resort Group was proud to introduce Lineker’s Sports Bar to MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa in January 2025, differentiating the destination as the only resort on Sal Island to feature an on-site sports bar. Showcasing all major sporting events, Lineker’s Sports Bar invites patrons to cheer for their team like never before, with the venue’s electrifying atmosphere culminating in the ultimate destination for holiday sports fans of all ages. Boasting a wide selection of beers, wines, ciders and premium spirits, Lineker’s Sports Bar invites customers to enjoy a great atmosphere and food at half time to keep everyone match ready.

Completed in 2014, MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa is the ultimate in all-inclusive luxury. Featuring six bars, seven restaurants and five expansive freshwater pools, the resort also features a YHI Spa and fully equipped gymnasium. MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa enjoys an enviable location on The Lagoon, overlooking pristine white sands and glittering azure waters.

MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa incorporates a range of accommodation types, ranging from stylish studio apartments and luxurious suites to large villas. Its five freshwater pools include indoor and outdoor children’s facilities. There is also a beach volleyball area and tennis courts to keep active guests entertained. The resort’s palm-lined boulevard offers a host of bars and dining options, as well as several retail outlets. With six bars and seven restaurants to choose from, guests are spoiled for choice, with the resort offering everything from buffet options to a la carte dining.

In developing MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa, The Resort Group crystalised Robert Jarrett’s vision of establishing the group as a leading hospitality and leisure company and partner of choice to premier hotel and tourism groups. Taking an integrated approach to the successful management of its hotels and resorts, The Resort Group’s portfolio includes businesses operating in a range of industries, including everything from food and beverage distribution to medical services and on-resort security.

Robert Jarrett has shared a strong friendship with businessman Wayne Lineker for some time. Despite his affection for the Lineker’s Sports Bar concept, Mr Lineker had never franchised it until his exclusive deal with The Resort Group, which saw Lineker Sports Bar at MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa open its doors in January 2025.

Having launched his first Lineker’s Sports Bar in 1987, Wayne Lineker is committed to showcasing major sporting events around the world. Just three years after he opened his first sports bar, his brother, Gary Lineker, made headlines by scoring two goals in the 1990 World Cup, raising the roof at the venue that night as the England team staged a remarkable comeback. These successes inspired Wayne Lineker to expand his business portfolio considerably, opening up numerous establishments across Spain and beyond and providing the ultimate in sports entertainment.

Complete with pool tables, dartboards and a steady supply of ice-cold beer, Lineker’s Sports Bar at MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa was opened by Robert Jarrett in January 2025. It features two vast 100-inch screens, along with nine 65-inch screens, all incorporating surround sound for immersive viewing experiences.
