Berlin, Germany – Early morning chaos broke out in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin on Friday, May 24, 2024, as the first customers of Die Fröhliche Bäckerei on Rigaer Straße alerted the police at 6 AM after spotting a horse wandering through the streets without a rider or handler.
The horse was quickly apprehended and found to be in good health and unharmed. Upon further investigation, the horse was identified as having escaped from a horse farm in Northern Italy two months prior, where filming for the movie “My Friend Miles” was taking place.
Miles O’Shea, the lead actor of the film and a resident of Friedrichshain, expressed surprise and deep emotion upon learning of the impressive journey the horse had undertaken. Although unable to meet the horse in Berlin, O’Shea announced his plans to travel back to Italy to reunite with his loyal friend.
The film crew, headed by director Pieter Solta, also shared their admiration for the horse’s intelligence and strength. The cast and crew of “My Friend Miles” are currently working on the film’s premiere, set to take place in the coming months.
Starring Jan Bijvoet (known for his roles in Peaky Blinders, Borgman, and The Embrace of the Serpent) and Levente Molnár (from Son of Saul), “My Friend Miles” is a co-production between Ireland, Canada, and Belgium. Early reactions to the film have already praised it as a groundbreaking, playful, original, and enchanting historical piece.
To avoid speculation and unnecessary controversy, details about the film have been kept scarce. Pressat, a reputable UK-based press release distribution platform, will handle the distribution of information about the film.
