Sofia Gillani Debuts ‘Pieces Of Me’ Album

Last Updated on: 1st March 2024, 07:28 am

Rising star Sofia Gillani has proudly announced the launch of her inaugural album, ‘Pieces of Me’. This album serves as a musical memoir, chronicling her adventures and trials in the music industry, and is inspired by various facets of her life. Gillani’s distinctive sound merges multiple vocal styles, creating an authentic listening experience that underscores the unifying power of music.

Sofia’s journey into music commenced at age 9, with a leading role in the musical “Evita” where she performed the famed “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”, contributing to the musical’s four-night acclaim at the Oliver Awards. Taking charge of her musical direction, Sofia independently writes, produces, and directs her pieces, drawing inspiration from the likes of Sia, Adele, and Ariana Grande to refine her artistic expression.

Her debut single “Ain’t a Game” is accompanied by a vibrant, self-directed animated music video that has garnered attention and accolades at various film festivals for its originality. Sofia’s musical path has been significantly influenced by her father, Asif, who has supported her in crafting and recording her music.

London’s own Sofia Gillani has been captivating the hearts of listeners since 2020 with her empowering lyrics and visually arresting music videos. Boasting a commendable lineup of singles, including the BBC Introducing-featured ‘Water Run Dry’, Sofia’s dynamic pop sound has been making international waves. Her performances, from the stages of Westfield London to the Haslemere Fringe and Luton Pride, have been memorable, marking her ascent in the pop music scene.

Sofia expressed: “Pieces of Me is exactly what it says it is an all-encompassing journey of me as an artist through ‘pieces’ – fragments of the human experience. As I progress through the tracks, you listen to progress in me as an artist. It’s a variety of genres, these are different experiences collectively coming together with one sole purpose, to bring a safe space yet constantly challenge and evoke emotion.

“I believe that music is one of the deepest forms of connection there is. When you canʼt find the words, thereʼs music. I believe everyone has an experience, if not multiple, where music was the only thing they needed at a certain moment and this collection is a series of moments in mine – and because its so personal, it means a lot to me to release and share it.

“Music connects us, music is an identity, our musical tastes make us different. Itʼs so hugely personal yet universal. Pieces of me begins that connection to the world through my lens – and I thank all who have been with me on my journey, or who are just beginning to be.”

‘Pieces of Me’, Gillani’s much-anticipated debut, is slated for release on March 18th and is a production of Bal Kumar of Frequency Records.
