Cranfield University has awarded a visiting fellowship to Dr Grant Van Ulbrich, founder of Scared So What Ltd (SSW). The fellowship will see Dr Van Ulbrich contribute to Cranfield’s Masters programmes, bringing innovative personal change methodologies to a university setting for the first time.

This partnership will introduce Scared So What’s Personal Change Management (PCM) model and technology into academic education, marking a new chapter in leadership and transformation studies. The inclusion of PCM at Cranfield sets a precedent for embedding cutting-edge change management practices within higher education.

Dr Van Ulbrich, an award-winning author, TEDx speaker, and sales transformation coach, is the creator of the Scared So What PCM model, which has gained global recognition for its ability to help individuals and organisations navigate personal change effectively. By integrating PCM into its programmes, Cranfield University reaffirms its commitment to preparing leaders capable of thriving in today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world.

Commenting on the fellowship, Dr Van Ulbrich stated: “Personal change is the foundation of effective leadership and organisational change and transformation success. The SSW PCM model equips individuals with the tools to understand and navigate their own journeys of transformation, which in turn fosters resilience, adaptability, and innovation. I am deeply honoured to collaborate with Cranfield University, a pioneer in executive education, to bring this cutting-edge model to the next generation of leaders.”

SSW PCM is highlighted in Dr Van Ulbrich’s book Transforming Sales Management: Lead Sales Teams Through Change, and his widely celebrated TEDx talkHow Can You Manage Personal Change. The model has transformed industries by enabling leaders to align personal growth with organisational strategies. Cranfield students will now benefit from exclusive access to these tools, providing a comprehensive and practical approach to leadership education.

Andrew Hough of Cranfield University praised the initiative: “Cranfield has always been at the forefront of innovation in education and research. By using Dr Van Ulbrich’s Personal Change Management model Scared So What in our programmes, we are providing our students with an unparalleled opportunity to master the dynamics of personal and organisational transformation. This collaboration embodies our mission to deliver cutting-edge solutions to real-world challenges.”

Dr Van Ulbrich’s illustrious career spans over 20 years, including transformative work in the cruise industry and his service as a U.S. Navy veteran. He has been recognised by renowned platforms such as Forbes, MSN, Your Business, The Guardian, and was named Cover Entrepreneur’s 2024 Person of the Year.

Starting in December 2024, this fellowship will offer Cranfield students practical learning experiences, case studies, and access to SSW’s innovative tools, equipping them to drive meaningful change in their careers and beyond.
