Canary Islands Tourism has unveiled its latest initiative to promote environmental care among younger generations. The project, called Find the Seasouls, is an interactive experience designed within the popular online platform ROBLOX. The launch of this experience marks a significant step forward for the tourism industry, as it is the first destination experience of its kind in Europe.
ROBLOX, a global social platform with over 80 million daily active users, is a popular hub for Generation Alpha and Z, making it an ideal platform to reach out to the younger demographic. Find the Seasouls aims to educate and encourage responsible behavior towards the environment, specifically focusing on the natural parks, protected spaces, and biodiversity of the Canary Islands.
Through this interactive experience, users will be able to explore the 8 Canary Islands, including iconic landscapes such as the volcanoes of Lanzarote and the junipers of El Hierro. Along the way, they will encounter the Seasouls, special sea creatures inspired by the animals that inhabit the islands. These characters and their descriptions have been carefully crafted in collaboration with renowned oceanographer Cristina Fernández Gil to accurately represent the biodiversity of the islands.
The project’s main goal is to connect with the future generation of tourists and instill the values of environmental responsibility while visiting destinations. As the experience is primarily geared towards younger audiences, it has been designed with a focus on sustainability and limited screen time. Additionally, ROBLOX automatically translates the game into fourteen languages, including Spanish, English, German, French, and Portuguese.
Find the Seasouls is a collaboration between creative agency Flecher.co and Brandnewverse, with funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project can be accessed through the website https://www.findtheseasouls.com/.
