Munich Airport is offering travellers arriving for Oktoberfest 2023 a unique experience, thanks to a collaboration between Paulaner brewery and creative agency thjnk Munich. The Paulaner SoundTrack, a publicly accessible, innovative installation between Terminals 1 and 2, allows travellers to use their suitcases to create music.
The Paulaner SoundTrack is a walkable track made of acrylic glass with grooves milled into it. By walking along the track with their wheeled suitcase at the speed set by a strip of light, a sequence of tones can be heard to produce the melody of the well-known Oktoberfest song Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit.
Paulaner is one of the six Munich breweries privileged to be the official Oktoberfest beer, and its Oktoberfest beer is the best-selling in retail. Paulaner PR-Manager Hanna Meier said: “It is the best way to properly welcome Oktoberfest visitors to Munich.”
This unique experience is thanks to the research of Canadian doctor and audiologist Marshall Chasin, who was able to calculate the exact frequencies needed to recreate the melody of Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit using a suitcase.
On Thursday 21 September, Munich Airport will welcome thousands of Oktoberfest visitors with the Paulaner SoundTrack, offering a unique musical experience to celebrate Paulaner’s special connection to Oktoberfest.
