Paul Griffiths Receives MBE from CMV Action for Contributions to Kings Birthday Honours

CMV Action is pleased to announce that our Patron, Emeritus Professor of Virology at University College London, Paul Griffiths, has been awarded an MBE on King Charles III’s Birthday Honours List for his significant contributions to the field of virology.

Throughout his career, Professor Griffiths has focused on medical virology and has established himself as an international expert in the effects of viruses on patients and their families. His renowned book, The Stealth Virus, not only brings medical virology to life but also serves as a dedication to those affected by CMV and those working towards eliminating it.

This prestigious award specifically recognizes Professor Griffiths’ research on CMV, his efforts in preventing CMV disease in transplant patients, his development of a new diagnostic test for congenital CMV, and his advocacy for raising awareness of CMV infection through CMV Action.

“I am honored and grateful to have been notified of this award, which truly highlights the hard work and dedication of my research team over the years. It is my hope that this recognition will bring attention to the challenges caused by CMV and inspire further development of the current candidate vaccines,” says Professor Paul Griffiths, Patron of CMV Action.

Sarah Dewar, Chair of CMV Action, adds, “We are incredibly proud to congratulate our Patron, Professor Paul Griffiths, on receiving an MBE for his exceptional contributions to virology. His expertise and dedication have been instrumental in advancing our understanding and awareness of CMV. We are honored to have Professor Griffiths as our Patron and look forward to celebrating this remarkable achievement with him.”
