Bayer, a global enterprise with a focus on life sciences, has announced a strategic collaboration with PAPACKS, a leading producer of moulded pulp packaging solutions, to develop fiber-based packaging for some of the company’s Consumer Health products. This partnership is a significant step towards Bayer’s commitment to ensure that 100% of their product packaging is recycle-ready or reusable by 2030.
The collaboration will focus on creating biodegradable, pulp-based packaging made from responsible virgin fibers, utilizing PAPACK’s innovative moulded pulp technology. This technology uses materials derived from renewable sources and features a plant-based coating, making it an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic packaging.
Jesse DelGigante, Director of Global Packaging Innovation for Bayer’s Consumer Health division, expressed the company’s pride in joining forces with PAPACKS to accelerate progress towards sustainable packaging solutions. “Reducing plastic utilization is one of the greatest challenges of our industry,” said DelGigante, “so we’re proud to join forces with PAPACKS to accelerate progress towards using eco-friendly, renewable sources for our packaging.”
PAPACKS founder and CEO, Tahsin Dag, also shared his excitement for the collaboration, stating, “We’re looking forward to the challenge of combining our unique pulp technology with plant-based coating with the rigorous standards mandated by regulatory agencies for over-the-counter medicines. We expect this collaboration to help redefine packaging standards for the industry.”
This partnership is just one of Bayer’s recent efforts to advance sustainable packaging solutions. The company also recently joined the Blister Pack Collective, a group focused on reducing single-use plastics in healthcare packaging.
