NORTECH UNVEILS ENHANCED UPASS GO WITH 10-METER VEHICLE ACCESS CONTROL RANGE

Nortech Control Systems Ltd, a leading British manufacturer of access control solutions, has announced the launch of their newest product, the uPASS Go. This next-generation UHF RFID reader is designed for long-range vehicle identification and offers an enhanced read range of up to 10 meters, double that of its predecessor, the uPASS Reach. The uPASS Go also features innovative circular polarization technology, allowing for flexible tag orientation.

The uPASS Go is ideal for applications such as car parks, gated communities, and staff parking areas, providing convenient and secure vehicle access solutions. It utilizes passive UHF technology compliant with ISO18000-6C and EPC Gen 2 standards and works with battery-free UHF tags, making it a cost-effective solution for vehicle identification.

“We are proud to introduce the uPASS Go as a significant advancement in our vehicle access portfolio,” said Amer Hafiz, Technical Director at Nortech Control Systems. “The circular polarization feature is particularly valuable for vehicles with metalized windscreens, where tag placement options are limited. With the uPASS Go, credentials can now be mounted in any orientation, giving installers and end-users much greater flexibility.”

The uPASS Go supports a variety of industry-standard communication interfaces, including RS485, Ethernet, Wiegand, and clock & data, making it easy to integrate into existing or new access control and parking systems. Its Ethernet connectivity with TCP/IP capabilities also allows for remote configuration and management, improving maintenance efficiency for distributed systems.

“Our goal with the uPASS Go was to provide a reader that offers both advanced features and installation flexibility,” Hafiz explained. “With the addition of Ethernet capability, system administrators can now perform remote configurations and updates through a user-friendly online interface. This functionality was not available with the previous model and significantly improves maintenance efficiency for distributed systems.”

The uPASS Go complements Nortech’s comprehensive vehicle identification portfolio, which includes ANPR systems and microwave-based TRANSIT readers. This allows Nortech to provide solutions for a wide range of vehicle access applications, from standard car parks to high-security industrial environments.

Designed for outdoor installation, the uPASS Go features a weather-resistant IP66-rated housing that can withstand temperatures from -30 to +60°C. Its slim profile makes it easy to install on entry pedestals or walls near barriers. For even more installation flexibility, an optional Mount Set Extension is available, allowing the reader to be mounted on walls or ceilings at any angle for optimal read area coverage.

The uPASS Go is now available and interested parties can contact Nortech’s sales team for more information.
