The climate crisis is our generation’s greatest challenge.
Facing this challenge, Andera Partners and Clean Planet Energy have partnered in an attempt to create cleaner energy across France for years to come. The pair have announced a plan to invest in three ecoPlants across the country, with the first one set to be live in mid-2023.
According to a statement announcing the deal, these ecoPlants will help the environment by “capturing thousands of tonnes of non-recyclable waste plastics per year (which would otherwise enter incineration or landfill, or be exported and potentially end up in our oceans), and converting this toxic waste into ultra-clean fuels and commodities to support green transport and circular plastics.”
Andera Partners is a private equity investments organisation that works within France and further afield. Clean Planet Energy is an organisation that is already involved in the construction of ecoPlants within the UK.
Prune des Roches, a partner at Andera’s Smart Infra fund, discussed the deal, stating: “Supporting Clean Planet Energy’s deployment in France contributes to solving both mobility and plastic environmental issues.”
Bertie Stephens, Clean Planet Energy’s CEO, echoed this enthusiasm. He said: ““Our partnership with Andera Partners supports our vision for clean oceans and clean air. Collaborating with a like-minded group such as Andera Partners enables Clean Planet to enhance the delivery of our mission of removing over one million tonnes of non-recyclable plastic waste from our environment every year.”
These power plants are viewed as an innovative solution to the climate issue, with the aviation and marine industry within France taking particular notice.
