Medly AI has launched the UK’s first artificial intelligence-powered GCSE mock examinations, granting students across the country access to a realistic, exam board-specific revision experience. Running from 14–18 April, the mock assessments are followed by rapid results on 20 April, offering a timely boost for students gearing up for their summer GCSEs.
“We’ve created this system to democratise access to high-quality exam preparation,” said Dr. Paul Jung and Dr. Kavi Samra, the medical doctors who co-founded Medly AI. “Our data shows students using our platform improve their final grades by an average of 1.2 grade boundaries, with the most significant improvements coming from schools in underprivileged areas where mock exam resources are often limited.”
Designed to closely mirror formal examinations, the service incorporates three major AI-driven innovations: an automated invigilation system that oversees testing conditions, a marking engine trained to emulate official GCSE examiners, and paper formats customised for leading exam boards including AQA and Edexcel.
Medly AI, founded in 2023, is a UK-based education technology firm committed to reducing inequality in academic outcomes through advanced AI. It has already supported over 50,000 students across the UK and has raised £1.7 million in investment from socially conscious firms Eka Ventures and Ada Ventures.
“Our mission has always been to level the playing field in education,” said Dr. Jung. “With these AI-powered mock exams, we’re providing students from all backgrounds with the tools they need to succeed in their GCSEs, regardless of their school’s resources.”
The AI marking feature was built with support from educational researchers at University College London and has demonstrated a 97% correlation with traditional examiner scores in all major GCSE subjects.
“What makes our platform unique is the combination of technological innovation with pedagogical expertise,” explained Dr. Samra. “We’re not just automating the exam process; we’re enhancing it with personalised feedback that helps students understand exactly where they need to improve.”
The company’s team worked in collaboration with teachers, students, and examiners through regular bi-weekly focus sessions, fine-tuning the system to deliver both realistic testing conditions and feedback that fosters meaningful progress.
Registration for the April mock exam period is now open via the official website: www.medlyai.com.
