“Exciting Announcement for Acid Jazz, Soul, and Jazz-Funk Fans: “Funk My Life” Takes the Stage in Cardiff and London”
Friday 14 February, 2025 – Fans of Acid Jazz, Soul, and Jazz-Funk in Cardiff and London are in for a treat this March as “Funk My Life” takes the stage. The highly anticipated performances, featuring West End powerhouse Philippa Healey and legendary musicians from Jamiroquai, promise to deliver an electrifying mix of dancefloor classics, original music, and world-class musicianship.
The first show will take place on 6th March at the Wales Millennium Centre Cabaret in Cardiff, with the second performance on 12th March at London’s Crazy Coqs. Both shows will feature award-winning musicians from London’s vibrant jazz scene, as well as Healey’s dynamic vocals.
Philippa Healey, known for her exceptional talent as a classically trained pianist, Oxford music graduate, and leading lady in Les Misérables, has redefined what it means to be a multi-talented musician. Her journey began at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music, followed by her casting as Cosette in Les Misérables by Sir Cameron Mackintosh himself.
Since then, Healey has wowed audiences worldwide, headlining luxury cruise lines and international venues with her musical versatility and dynamic stage presence. Now, she’s making waves in the Soul and Jazz-Funk world, releasing original music featuring Jamiroquai legends Rob Harris, Paul Turner, and Derrick McKenzie, alongside some of London’s most critically acclaimed contemporary jazz musicians.
Healey’s unique blend of harmony, melody, and rhythm brings a fresh and exciting sound to the Soul and Jazz-Funk scene. Her music has been praised by critics, with SoundReadSix.com stating, “a vibrant and out-of-the-ordinary personality shines from the talented Philippa Healey.”
Funk My Life has received high praise from industry professionals, with Jamiroquai bassist Paul Turner commenting, “Philippa is so refreshingly adventurous with harmony, melody, and rhythm.” Soul & Funk & Jazz Magazine also raved about Healey’s music, stating, “energy-packed, and it’s easy to hear the influence of people like Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock – a proper old-school 70s jazz-funk vibe going down.”
With limited tickets available, fans are urged not to miss their chance to witness this incredible fusion of soul, funk, and jazz. Tickets for the Cardiff show are available directly from Wales Millennium Centre, and ticket bookings for the London show can be made on Brasserie Zedel’s website.
