Gosforth Central Middle School Implements Innovative Mindscreen Programme to Foster Self-Awareness and Confidence in Students
Thursday 15 February, 2024 – Gosforth Central Middle School has successfully completed the Mindscreen experience® programme with Year 6, 7, and 8 pupils. Mindscreen, an innovative platform aimed at nurturing the self-awareness, confidence, and self-belief of children, has received widespread adoption from educators and parents across several UK secondary schools. The partnership with Gosforth Central Middle School marks the first time the Mindscreen experience® programme has been simultaneously implemented across multiple year groups, taking Mindscreen another step towards achieving its mission.
Gav Devereux, founder of Mindscreen, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with Gosforth Central Middle School is an important milestone in our journey. It has demonstrated that our programme supports pupils’ personal growth while providing staff with powerful tools to manage behavioural incidents and support SEN pupils.”
The adoption of a school-wide approach ensures the involvement of teachers, pupils, and parents, creating an environment of inclusive learning and growth. This innovative approach not only enriches pupils’ lives but also engages and informs the key influencers in each child’s life.
Rachel Reed, Head of Year 5 and Head of PSHE at Gosforth Central Middle School, praised the effectiveness of Mindscreen in improving the wellbeing and self-awareness of pupils. She stated, “Mindscreen has been an excellent tool for both pupils and staff to improve wellbeing and self-awareness. It has allowed our pupils to gain a greater understanding of themselves, their strengths, and their future goals. Pupils have given positive feedback about the programme, stating that it has allowed them to acknowledge different aspects of their personalities in a positive way.”
Reed also emphasized the impact of Mindscreen on staff, saying, “Mindscreen has been an insightful tool for staff when dealing with difficult behaviour incidents. It has provided us with further insight into how children respond in certain situations and why.”
Through fostering self-awareness and self-confidence, crucial indicators of success and happiness in life, Mindscreen aims to give children the best start possible. Devereux added, “The positive outcomes reported by Gosforth Central Middle School are exciting because they clearly express the depth of impact our programme has on pupils, staff, and school practices.”
Looking towards the future, the Mindscreen team remains committed to their purpose of helping children flourish by adapting resources for Year 5 pupils, enabling personal growth from an earlier age.
