The Mark Allen Group has accomplished its third acquisition in under a year with the purchase of Sterling Events Ltd. for an undisclosed amount.
Starling Events is a Liverpool-based firm and the principal shareholder of which is Lauren Sterling. Next year, it will stage two major events: Health and Wellbeing at Work and Primary Care and Public Health. The six staff will remain in Liverpool.
Health and Wellbeing at Work is the UK’s largest event dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of today’s workforce. The show has been leading the way in championing employee wellbeing for over 17 years, which is why it is now the country’s major event for GPs, trainee GPs, managers, podiatrists, physiotherapists, nurses, midwives, and dieticians working in primary and community care. Similarly strong bounces back were also seen in previous Health & Wellbeing at Work events following World War II with record numbers of exhibitors and visitors at recent editions.
Mark Allen Group has now acquired three events this year, and the latest one is Sterling Events. Sterling Events focuses on exhibitions, conferences, networking events and more for the regeneration industry. Mark Allen Group hosted its first Regen event earlier this month in Liverpool, successfully attracting exhibitors from a variety of sectors as well as catering to attendees interested in networking and knowledge-sharing.
EMEX, EMEX’s net-zero and energy management expo, was a success with attendance at London’s ExCel Centre this week. Like EMEX, the two Sterling Shows will come under the umbrella of MA Exhibitions, headed by Tim Willoughby. Tim is one of seven operating companies in the group.
With our overwhelming interest in healthcare and human resources, acquiring the two well-known exhibitions is a real victory. With those interests combined with both our primary care and HR magazines, this hits home for us.
“It is a real coup acquiring these two healthcare exhibitions and they substantially strengthen our HR offering,” says CEO Ben Allen. He’s delighted that Lauren Gill has agreed to stay on as a consultant until the end of the 2023 editions of the shows, especially since she has built these events over time and has an incredible knowledge of the markets. “I greatly look forward to working with her and her team and taking these events to new heights.”
Lauren Sterling said, “I’m really looking forward to being part of the Mark Allen Group. As market leaders in delivering healthcare and HR focused events there are great opportunities to develop them even more under the MAG banner. We’re already working on some new ideas that will help strengthen our 2023 events. There’s a lot of synergy between my company and theirs, and I feel very confident that our events will continue to grow and be at the forefront of their respective industries by working together.”
