Isle of Man, UK – The Fynoderee Distillery, known for its award-winning artisan spirits, has recently announced the launch of its first cask-aged rum expression, Glashtyn Cask-Aged Rum. The rum, made from organic Colombian panela, has been aged for 13-16 months in premium first-fill Bourbon Quarter-Casks at the distillery’s location in the north of the Isle of Man. The island, known for its deep Celtic heritage and surrounded by the warm climate of the Irish Sea, is also a UNESCO Biosphere nation.
Co-founder of The Fynoderee Distillery, Paul Kerruish, expressed his excitement about the new release, stating, “In line with our Biosphere-inspired ethos of creating planet and people friendly artisan spirits, we have sourced our raw ingredient, panela, directly from a farmer in South America. This not only gives the rum a superior richness and complexity, but also provides a ‘cane to cask’ backstory and traceability.”
Kerruish also noted the unique flavor profiles that the island’s location, premium casks from ex-Heaven Hill Distillery, and high-quality natural ingredients have imparted to the aged rum. He added, “We look forward to further releases of unique and interesting bottlings, each featuring the tantalizing tale of the ‘Glashtyn’ – a mysterious Manx sea-creature from Celtic mythology.”
The Fynoderee team is also set to announce the launch of a new exclusive rum to commemorate the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s (RNLI) bicentenary. Refuge Manx Rum, a limited-edition organic rum, will be the second spirit to be released as part of Fynoderee’s Coastal Collection of Spirits range. The range serves as the distillery’s fundraising partnership with the RNLI and aims to highlight the Manx origins of the charity.
