Norfolk Charity Launches Fundraising Campaign to Support Mental Health Services
Friday, 15 March 2024
The Watton branch of Norfolk Clubhouse, a charity founded by psychotherapist June Webb in 2019, has announced the launch of a new fundraising campaign. The organization aims to raise £6,000 to sustain and enhance its mental health support and employability skills training services for people in Watton and the surrounding areas.
According to Webb, the options for mental health support in the area are limited, making Norfolk Clubhouse a crucial resource for those in need. The organization provides a supportive community for individuals overcoming mental health challenges and currently meets on a weekly basis at Watton Christian Community Centre. Services offered include craft, music, and cooking groups, as well as mentoring and support for re-entering the workforce.
Membership to Norfolk Clubhouse is free and individuals can self-refer or be referred by their GP, social worker, or similar professional. The organization follows the international Clubhouse model, where members play an active role in the everyday running of the group.
Webb emphasizes the importance of the Watton hub in supporting the mental health needs of the local community. She states, “Our small but dedicated team provides essential support, enabling Clubhouse members to overcome life’s challenges and regain a sense of purpose and wellbeing.”
The current fundraising campaign aims to raise funds for the next 12 months, which will cover the costs of part-time support staff and venue hire. The £6,000 target is crucial to sustaining the charity’s operations in Watton and ensuring that Norfolk Clubhouse can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
