A generous couple from West Cumbria has left behind a meaningful contribution to their community through the creation of a new fund to support local youth. The late Edwin and Anita Mackay have designated part of the proceeds from the sale of their property in Seaton to the Cumbria Community Foundation.
The Edwin and Anita Mackay Memorial Fund, established by Cumbria Community Foundation, will provide grants of up to £500 to charitable groups for various projects benefiting young people. These include funding for junior sports teams, drama workshops for those under 18, and improvements to community facilities used by young individuals.
Cumbria Community Foundation is a renowned charitable organization that distributes approximately £6 million in grants annually to local charities and voluntary groups. These funds have been set up by generous individuals, families, and businesses with the aim of supporting various causes and initiatives in the community.
Caroline Adams, Development Manager for Cumbria Community Foundation, expressed gratitude towards Edwin and Anita Mackay and all the contributors who have chosen to support the foundation. She emphasized the importance of leaving a charitable legacy in one’s will as it allows a family name to live on while supporting causes that hold personal significance.
