“Leading distance learning platform introduces GCSE English Language and Maths resit programs”

NEC Launches Two New GCSE Resit Courses for November 2024 Exams

Wednesday 12 June, 2024 – The National Extension College (NEC), a renowned name in online and distance learning, has announced the release of two new GCSE resit courses: GCSE English Language Resit and GCSE Maths Resit. These courses are now open for enrolment and are specifically designed for individuals aiming to achieve a Grade 4 or higher in their resit exams scheduled for November 2024.

With a proud history of providing accessible education and essential qualifications such as GCSEs and A levels, NEC is committed to helping individuals succeed in their education. The launch of these two new GCSE resit courses is a testament to this commitment, as they are tailored for students who have previously failed their GCSE English Language and/or GCSE Maths exams.

Esther Chesterman, Chief Executive at the National Extension College, explains the motivation behind these new courses: “The COVID-19 pandemic has not only affected social and emotional skills, but has also had a detrimental impact on the reading, writing, and math abilities of many children and young adults. As a result, their disrupted education is reflected in their GCSE exam results, and this trend is expected to continue for years to come.”

Chesterman adds, “Our two new short, personalized GCSE resit courses are designed to help these students successfully resit their English language and/or maths exams and achieve a Pass at Grade 4 or higher. Each course begins with an Introductory Quiz to identify the areas where students need the most help, and provides individualized support from expert tutors and the NEC team throughout the course.”

The key features of NEC’s GCSE Maths and GCSE English Language resit courses include an introductory quiz, personalized 1-2-1 sessions with expert tutors, online seminars and group sessions, access to past exam papers, and a revision quiz. The courses also guarantee an exam place at one of NEC’s Partnership Exam Centres.

NEC’s courses are delivered entirely online, allowing students to study at their own pace and fit learning around their schedule. This flexibility eliminates the need for evening or college classes. Additional support is also available for students under 18 and those with additional needs, including guidance on requesting exam accommodations, 1-to-1 pastoral support, and a dedicated Wellbeing for Learning program.

NEC encourages interested individuals to visit their website at www.nec.ac.uk or contact them via email at info@nec.ac.uk or phone at 0800 389 2839 for more information on these courses.
