Non-profit organization knus has been awarded a grant of £4,620.72 through the Hatch Fund, supported by UBS, Hatch Enterprise, and Groundwork. The grant was administered by Groundwork, a charity focused on building stronger communities, and was funded by UBS. The Hatch Fund, launched last year by Hatch Enterprise, aims to invest in underrepresented founders across the UK and level the playing field. Over 30 founders were awarded a total of nearly £160,000 through this fund.
According to Sarah Payne, Head of UBS UK Social Impact and Philanthropy, UBS is proud to partner with Hatch Enterprise in supporting impactful founders from underrepresented backgrounds. She stated, “We are delighted to have supported this group of ambitious UK founders with investments into their impact ventures through the Hatch Fund and congratulate them on everything they have already achieved.” Payne also expressed her excitement to see the positive impact of their support and wished the grant recipients success in their continued growth and scale.
Mellissa Morgan, Co-Head of Programmes at Hatch Enterprise, shared that their mission is to build a better world through entrepreneurship by supporting underrepresented founders across the UK. She acknowledged that funding is often one of the key challenges for early-stage founders, especially in the current climate, and expressed their pleasure in being able to offer grant funding through their partnership with UBS and Groundwork. Morgan also praised the innovation and passion of the founders who come onto Hatch programmes and looks forward to seeing their achievements with the support of the grant.
Graham Duxbury, Chief Executive of Groundwork UK, stated that empowering communities to improve their prospects and have more say in their local area is at the heart of what they do. He expressed his pleasure in working alongside Hatch Enterprise to help grow the social and circular economy, strengthen communities, and protect the environment.
Knus, a 100% volunteer-driven non-profit, focuses on making mental health peer support free and accessible for all aged over 18 and living in the UK. The organization provides free mental health peer support through innovative technologies such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, SMS, telephone, video, and soon an all-in-one app. They also offer accredited courses in Overcoming Anxiety, meditations, sleep stories, and workshops. Knus was created in response to the lengthy wait for triage and access to peer support, which can take even longer and is often only accessible after clinical intervention.
Hatch Enterprise is a national charity that supports underrepresented entrepreneurs from across the UK to imagine, launch, and grow businesses that are sustainable, successful, and have a positive and lasting impact on their communities. Since 2014, they have supported over 7,800 UK entrepreneurs to flourish through their unique programmes designed by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs and sustainable, compassionate financial support offering.
Groundwork is a charity that works locally and nationally to transform lives in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities. Their goal is to create a future where every neighborhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny, and no one is held back by their background or circumstances. They help people gain confidence and skills, get into training and work, protect and improve green spaces, lead more active lives, and overcome significant challenges such as poverty, isolation, low skills, and poor health.
