Inspirit Senior Living Prioritises Safety with Cutting-Edge Disinfection Programme

Last Updated on: 16th December 2024, 05:14 pm

In preparation for the challenges of cold and flu season, Inspirit Senior Living is strengthening its commitment to resident health and safety by adopting innovative disinfection technologies through its Pure Health programme. This forward-thinking initiative, developed in partnership with Viking Pure Solutions, introduces a new standard of cleanliness in the senior living sector.

The aim of the Pure Health programme is simple: to employ a safe, effective cleaning and disinfecting method that protects residents from illnesses like cold, flu, and COVID-19. However, the science behind the programme is both advanced and innovative.

Each Inspirit community features a proprietary machine supplied by Viking Pure Solutions. The machine uses a process called electrolysis to transform salt and regular cold tap water into its essential components: sodium and chlorine. This produces HOCl, or hypochlorous acid, a natural infection-fighting substance created by white blood cells. HOCl forms the core of electrolysed water, which Inspirit Senior Living uses as the primary cleaning agent for its Pure Health programme.

Electrolysed water is proven to be effective against a variety of germs, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Registered with the EPA as a disinfectant, it kills 99.9% of germs, including Norovirus and SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Additionally, it can be safely used on hard and soft surfaces, is green-certified, and is entirely safe for humans and pets – in fact, it’s even safe to drink!

Inspirit communities implement a strict disinfection schedule under the Pure Health programme. Beyond their regular cleaning routines, special attention is given to areas with high foot traffic, such as dining rooms and lobbies, which are disinfected daily. Residents’ apartments are also cleaned and disinfected as part of their routine housekeeping service.

“Our Pure Health programme exemplifies Inspirit’s dedication to leveraging innovative technologies that enhance the well-being of our communities,” said Dave McHarg, Inspirit Senior Living’s CEO. “Nothing is more important to us than our residents’ well-being, and, knowing that seniors are often immunocompromised, I’m so proud of this programme, unique approach, and partnership with a company that bridges technological advancement with safety.”
