Initiative “Digital Accessibility Initiative introduced by Scaramanga Marketing”

London, May 16, 2024 – In response to the widespread issue of poor website accessibility and the growing need for digital inclusion, Scaramanga Marketing has announced the launch of Digital Accessibility on Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2024.

The new service is designed to empower website owners, project managers, technical and developer teams, and anyone interested in digital accessibility, to create more inclusive digital experiences for all users, regardless of ability or disability.

According to statistics from the Department of Work and Pension’s Family Resources Survey, nearly a quarter of the UK population has a disability. By championing accessibility through the launch of Digital Accessibility, Scaramanga Marketing aims to create a more equitable online environment for all users.

“At Scaramanga, we believe that accessibility is not just a legal requirement, but also good business practice,” said Claire Scaramanga, Director at Scaramanga Marketing. “By prioritising inclusivity, businesses not only fulfill their ESG strategies but also demonstrate a commitment to doing what’s right for the 16 million people in the UK with disabilities.”

To lead by example, the Digital Accessibility website itself adheres to the strictest accessibility requirements outlined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), achieving the AAA standard, the highest of its kind. The website includes features such as high-contrast text and closed captions for pre-recorded video content.

“As advocates for digital accessibility, we invite businesses and organizations to join us in our mission towards inclusivity,” added Simon Leadbetter, The Accessibility Guy at Digital Accessibility. “We are offering a Charter, an agreement that organizations, web agencies, and developers can sign up to in order to underline their commitment to accessibility. Together, we can create a digital landscape where everyone has equal access and opportunity.”

Digital Accessibility offers various packages, including accessibility audits and workshops, designed for both technical teams and content creators to equip themselves with the knowledge and tools needed to create accessible digital experiences. These packages include:

– The Full Works: Accessibility audit pre-workshop and after the delegates have made changes, regular audits with a review meeting with the main client contact, and all four workshops (three for techs and one for content creators).
– The Tech Team: Accessibility audit pre-workshop and after the delegates have made changes, review meeting with the main client contact after the post-workshop audit, and three tech workshops.
– The Content Creators: Accessibility audit pre-workshop and after the delegates have made changes, focus on content fixes, review meeting with the main client contact after the post-workshop audit, and a content authors’ workshop.
