Hope Spring, a clean water advocacy charity based in Hereford, successfully handed over its latest borehole project to the community it partnered with on Friday 2nd June.
The thirty metre deep borehole, with multiple standpipes, is expected to benefit over sixty people in the immediate vicinity, as well as hundreds of neighbouring communities.
Speaking about the project, Hope Spring trustee, Temi Odurinde, said: “We are absolutely delighted to complete and handover the Sumonu community borehole in Agege to the beneficiaries. This is one of our outstanding projects, which was postponed several times during the pandemic of 2020. We are grateful for the patience of the community members and our partners.”
The completion of the project, which went over budget by 40%, was largely thanks to the additional funding provided by online birthday greetings card platform Hope Spring eCards. The platform has helped the charity complete more than six projects in 2023, with the charity expecting to complete another half a dozen projects by the end of the year.
