The Youth Sport Trust has congratulated the Lionesses on reaching the Women’s World Cup Final, despite their heartbreaking loss.
Manager Sarina Wiegman has been praised for uniting the squad in a common goal and inspiring a generation of young women and girls to take up football.
The Lionesses have shown the power of sport to unite, inspire, and create hope, and have helped to drive participation and change attitudes towards sport for young women and girls.
“We’d like to say a huge congratulations from everyone at the Youth Sport Trust to the Lionesses for their incredible achievement in reaching the World Cup Final,” said a spokesperson for the organisation.
“Through their actions on and off the field, the Lionesses have helped to drive change in participation in sport for young women and girls, by changing attitudes, building opportunities and pathways.”
