“Grants Available for Health Initiatives: Unlocking Funding Opportunities”

New Funds Available to Support People with Learning Disabilities and Autism in North Cumbria

The North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board has announced the availability of two new funds totalling £63,000 to support individuals with mild learning disabilities and autism in North Cumbria. These funds, administered by Cumbria Community Foundation, aim to improve health outcomes and overall wellbeing for this community.

The first fund, titled the Building the Right Support: Transition from Hospital Fund, offers £40,000 for a single project that supports the discharge of adults with learning disabilities or autism from inpatient care and reduces readmissions. Partnership applications are encouraged for this fund.

The second fund, the Building the Right Support: Annual Health Checks Fund, provides £23,000 to increase the uptake of annual health checks for individuals aged 14 and above with learning disabilities or autism in North Cumbria. This fund is open to both single and multiple project applications.

Projects chosen for funding will work closely with staff from the Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust. Interested applicants can submit their proposals for one or both funds by 14 March 2025. Before applying, all applicants are encouraged to speak with Grants Officer Sarah Thompson at 01900 825760 or via email at sarah@cumbriafoundation.org.

Tania Desborough, Strategic Head of Commissioning for the North East and North Cumbria ICB (North Cumbria Local Delivery Team), expressed excitement for the opportunity to support innovative, person-centred projects in North Cumbria that will have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals with mild learning disabilities and autism.
