“Global Box Office Record: Inside Out 2 is the First Film of 2024 to Surpass $1bn”

Pixar and Walt Disney’s collaboration, Inside Out, has made history by becoming the first film of the year to surpass $1 billion in worldwide box office sales. This achievement also makes it the highest grossing film of the year so far.

The success of Inside Out is unprecedented, as it reached this milestone faster than any other animated film in history. Last year, Warner Brothers’ Barbie was the first movie to reach $1 billion, but it took longer to do so.

Since its release on June 14, Inside Out has held the top spot at the box office for three consecutive weekends. The movie follows the story of a young girl named Riley and her emotions – Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust – as she navigates through life’s challenges. In the sequel, new emotions – Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment – are introduced as Riley becomes a teenager.

The film has not only been a hit with audiences of all ages, but it has also successfully attracted the coveted teen demographic (ages 13-17) back to the theaters. The voice cast includes talented actors such as Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, and Kensington Tallman, and is directed by Kelsey Mann.

Michael O’Leary, the president and CEO of the National Association of Theatre Owners, congratulated Inside Out on its achievement, stating, “On behalf of movie theatre owners across the country and around the world, we want to congratulate Disney’s Inside Out for grossing $1 billion faster than any animated movie in history. The film’s stunning global success once again illustrates that audiences the world over will respond to compelling, entertaining movies, and that they want to enjoy them on the big screen.”

Inside Out joins the ranks of only 11 other animated movies to surpass $1 billion, including hits like Finding Dory, Frozen and its sequel, and the final two Toy Story installments.

The next highly anticipated family film of the year, Despicable Me 4, is set to hit UK cinemas in July and stars Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, and Joey King.

Inside Out 2 is currently showing in UK cinemas and continues to captivate audiences with its heartfelt story and lovable characters.
