Fluid and King Games Collaborate to Deliver a Flexible Office Redesign with Long-Term Impact

Last Updated on: 27th March 2025, 05:21 am

King Games has partnered with Fluid, an independent furniture consultancy, to reimagine its head office setup, adopting a fluid, employee-focused model that prioritises adaptability and cost efficiency.

Instead of purchasing furniture outright, King Games opted for Fluid’s rental offering, which allowed them to trial a range of solutions and create a space that evolves alongside their team’s needs.

Following the initial conversation, the entire process – from product selection to delivery and installation – was completed within just three months, showcasing the speed and simplicity of the rental approach.

The primary aim was to avoid heavy upfront capital expenditure by renting first, evaluating what worked best, and saving long term. This strategy delivered a notable 52% reduction in CapEx compared to a traditional fit-out.

To foster a flexible working culture, King Games implemented a variety of innovative setups across the office, including:

  • Collaborative tables in varying heights for teamwork
  • Private booths for solo tasks and quiet work
  • Open booths to promote informal catch-ups
  • Enclosed Torus M pods for focused working
  • Framery Meeting pods for confidential discussions
  • Modular Campers & Dens pods for flexible team use

A comprehensive review was carried out after 12 months, enabling the company to identify and replace underused items while investing in furniture that employees found valuable – ensuring the space stays relevant and supportive of evolving work habits.

King Games, known globally for titles like Candy Crush and Call of Duty, wanted an environment that matched the creativity and diversity of its teams.

“We wanted to create a workspace that genuinely worked for our teams,” said Rebecca Redding, Workplace Manager at King Games.

“Fluid’s rental model gave us the flexibility to trial different solutions, adjust as needed, and avoid unnecessary costs. The results speak for themselves – our employees are engaged, and our office is a space that truly supports the way we work.”

A Smarter Approach to Workplace Design

The collaboration reflects a wider industry shift in workplace design – one that recognises the need for flexible, cost-effective solutions in a post-pandemic world. With remote and hybrid working now the norm, adaptability is key.

“At Fluid we believe workspaces should be as dynamic as the people who use them,” commented Warwick Flint, Managing Director of Fluid Furniture.

“Our rental model gives businesses like King Games the flexibility to create environments that truly support their teams, without the burden of long-term commitments or high upfront costs. Seeing how King Games has embraced this approach is a fantastic example of how workplaces can evolve to meet changing needs.

“One of the standout benefits of furniture rental from Fluid is the peace of mind that comes with Fluid’s comprehensive maintenance and support services. King Games no longer have to worry about repairs, replacements, or the logistics of managing furniture, as we take care of all aspects, allowing them to focus on their core business.”

Looking ahead, King Games will continue refining its workplace with Fluid’s support, using data and staff input to make informed choices. The ability to adapt and refresh the office setup ensures it stays future-ready and aligned with employee expectations.

Warwick Flint concluded: “For businesses looking to future-proof their offices, Fluid’s flexible rental model offers a smart and sustainable approach. With reduced waste, lower costs, and an ever-evolving office design, companies can focus on what truly matters – creating inspiring environments that support their teams and drive success.”
