Cadbury’s Top Deck chocolate bar was revived earlier this year, sparking a conversation among readers about which discontinued treats they would love to see make a comeback. The overwhelming response led to the creation of a new weekly feature in the Money blog called “Bring It Back”. Every Tuesday, a discontinued item suggested by readers will be featured and explored, including why it was so beloved and the possibility of it being reintroduced by the companies.
This week, the spotlight is on Nestle’s Caramac. The golden-colored confectionary first hit UK shelves in 1959, after being introduced by its original creator, Mackintosh’s. However, sales have been declining in recent years, leading Nestle, which acquired the brand in 1998, to announce its discontinuation in November. This news was met with a mix of horror and disappointment from its dedicated fan base.
One such fan is Jacqueline, who expressed her love for the Caramac bar and lamented its absence in stores. “Please bring back the Caramac bar!” she exclaimed. “It was my absolute favorite and there’s nothing else like it in the shops anymore. I would do anything to get my hands on one again!” Another reader, Hainan Gal, also joined the chorus, stating, “Bring back Caramac! It was completely unique and unlike anything else available.”
In response to the overwhelming demand from fans, the Money blog can exclusively reveal that there is good news for Caramac enthusiasts. The bar is set to make a comeback, albeit for a limited time only. Lisa Butterworth, Chocolate Classics Brand Manager for Nestle UK and Ireland, shared, “The calls for the return of Caramac were heard loud and clear, and for this iconic bar, we wanted to create a special opportunity for fans to enjoy it once more.” She added, “We hope that this limited release gives people the chance to savor and stock up on Caramac as a gesture of our appreciation for the unwavering support of our confectionery fans over the years.”
The range will include the classic Caramac single bar, a convenient three-bar multipack, and a sharing bag of Caramac buttons. These treats will be available in retailers nationwide starting this month, while stocks last. Butterworth also shared that Nestle has launched a variety of new products since the Caramac’s discontinuation, including ice cream-inspired Aero Melts, Munchies Cookie Dough, and Milkybar Raspberry Ripple pieces, Rowntree’s Randoms Fizzy Cactuz, KitKat Chunky White with Lotus Biscoff, and Aero Choco-Hazelnut flavor.
Fans of the iconic Caramac bar can now rejoice as they eagerly await its return to shelves. For those who have yet to try it, this limited release offers a chance to taste the beloved treat and see what all the fuss is about. Stay tuned to the Money blog for more discontinued items making a comeback in the future.
