Families of Post Office victims gather to meet with Fujitsu Europe CEO Paul Patterson: ‘We have suffered great losses’

The children of Post Office victims have had a significant meeting with Fujitsu European President, Paul Patterson, following similar discussions with former sub-postmasters. The group, known as Lost Chances, expressed that they felt heard and received a “sincere apology” from Mr. Patterson during their meeting. This meeting is a part of a series of face-to-face discussions held by Mr. Patterson with those affected by the Post Office scandal this week.

Fujitsu, the company responsible for developing the faulty Horizon accounting system and supporting prosecutions against hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters falsely accused of stealing, has been under scrutiny for their role in the scandal. The children of sub-postmasters released a statement describing the meeting as a “personal moment for us all” and expressed their appreciation for having the opportunity to be heard by Fujitsu. They further stated that they felt “listened to” by Mr. Patterson and appreciated his “sincere apology”.

The statement released by the children continued, “Recognizing the impact of this scandal on our lives is crucial. We have lost a lot, including our childhoods, fractured relationships, and careers. We look forward to hearing what next steps look like once Fujitsu has taken the time to reflect on our time together.”

In an interview with Sky News on Wednesday, Mr. Patterson described the meetings as “emotional” and expressed his regret for the role Fujitsu played in the Post Office scandal. The meetings with former sub-postmasters have shed light on the devastating effects of the faulty Horizon system and its impact on innocent individuals.
