Brighton is set to make history as Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) comes to the city for the first time ever. From 25th September to 1st October 2023, locals and visitors alike will be able to take part in the ‘ReWear Revolution’ and celebrate sustainable style through a diverse lineup of free events.
Organised by Brighton Peace and Environment Centre in collaboration with local community interest company Sew Fabulous Brighton and a network of passionate sustainable fashion advocates, the SFW hub in Brighton is poised to revolutionise the way we perceive and engage with fashion. With the support of The EcoSystem Incubator, Discarded Spirits, and Peper Harow, the week aims to invite everyone to enjoy conscious fashion, no matter their style.
Becca Freeman, Centre Manager of Brighton Peace and Environment Centre said: “Brighton Peace and Environment Centre has been championing sustainability and combating climate change for over 25 years. We believe that Sustainable Fashion Week is a fantastic event to be bringing for the first time to our city, it perfectly aligns with Brighton’s trend setting attitude and the community’s long-standing commitment to a more sustainable future. We can’t believe that this is the first ever!”
The free events during the week will include fashion film screenings, a sustainable fashion marketplace, flashmob catwalks, topical panel discussions, creative workshops, and more. The main event is a two-day showcase at Brighton Dome, from 30th September to 1st October, which will feature a sustainable fashion marketplace, flashmob catwalks, empowering panel discussions, creative workshops, and fashion film screenings.
The event is open to the public for free and is aiming to inspire a community of changemakers that look good and do good.
