Maschsee Festival in Hannover, Germany, will be celebrating its 37th year on July 31st. The event, which is known as Germany’s largest lakeside festival, will run for 19 days until August 18th.
Located in the capital city of Lower Saxony, the festival will feature a variety of epicurean delights spread out over a 20,000 square meter area on and around the water. As in previous years, Maschsee Festival will offer visitors a culinary journey around the world with a range of international cuisine, including Oriental, Mexican, Asian, Scandinavian, and traditional German dishes. There will also be a variety of dining options, from exclusive settings to finger foods to go.
One of the festival’s new additions is the Food Village at Geibel, covering an area of 1400 square meters. Along with a diverse selection of food, the village will also feature two of Hannover’s top wine bars, Enrico Leone and Le Sommelier. Visitors can also enjoy live music, DJ sets, and boozy brunches on Wednesdays through Sundays. For a touch of California, the America Unlimited Sunset Beach will offer palm trees, deck chairs, and a relaxed atmosphere.
The KONE Pavilion, with its stunning blue structure, will provide guests with a beautiful view of the lake. This is the perfect location for international events and gatherings, serving a selection of cocktails and finger foods while guests take in the scenery.
A complete list of all the available dining options can be found on the festival’s website at www.maschseefest.de/gastronomie/.
Families can also participate in free events at the children’s meadow on the west bank of the lake on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays (excluding opening day). These activities range from creative and sports activities to a large bouncy castle for young acrobats.
This year’s programme highlights include a performance by German rapper Malik Harris on August 2nd, a hip-hop band called Passepartout on August 10th, and a performance by Rudolf Schenker, the guitarist of Scorpions, on August 18th. Throughout the 19 days, there will also be performances by sea shanty groups, cover bands, and Irish folk acts.
The festival will also feature classic events such as the torchlight swim on the evening of August 3rd, the NKR charity duck race on August 17th, and QueerWednesday on August 7th.
