EU Launches ‘Garden of Europe’ Campaign to Promote Agri-Food Safety and Quality

Last Updated on: 10th October 2024, 06:29 am

The European Union has introduced the “Garden of Europe” campaign, aimed at increasing the market presence and consumer awareness of European agri-food products within the EU and internationally.

Scheduled to run until 2027, this campaign demonstrates the EU’s ongoing commitment to food safety and authenticity, providing consumers with premium products that adhere to the highest global standards.

The initiative specifically highlights the quality and safety of European kiwis from Greece and apples from Poland, targeting markets such as Indonesia and India. The primary aim is to boost exports and promote the superior quality, safety, and nutritional benefits of these fruits.

The EU is highly regarded for its rigorous standards in agri-food production, with comprehensive safety and quality protocols applied to products like apples and kiwis.

EU apples and kiwis are subject to various quality assurance programmes, ensuring compliance with strict regulations regarding food safety, environmental protection, and worker welfare at every stage of the production process.

Traceability systems are implemented to monitor the journey of apples and kiwis from farm to table, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain.

Frequent audits and inspections by independent agencies ensure that safety and quality standards are continuously upheld from farming to packaging and distribution.

The EU’s commitment to these standards ensures that apples and kiwis are both safe to eat and authentic in quality.

The Agricultural Cooperative of Neapoli Agrinio and the Association of Polish Fruit and Vegetables Distributors are the main beneficiaries of the ‘Garden of Europe’ campaign.
