Eight-Year-Old Ravi Adelekan Organizes Mini-Soccer Aid Event with Celebrity Guests to Support Brain Tumour Research

Last Updated on: 22nd November 2023, 02:04 am

In November 2022, Ravi Adelekan, an inspiring eight-year-old, launched the Ravi’s Dream campaign with the release of a cover version of ‘A Million Dreams’ accompanied by a star-studded video featuring renowned musicians, athletes, and celebrities. With the participation of Hugh Jackman, Paloma Faith, Bastille, Metronomy, Coldplay, Mary Berry, De La Soul, footballer Leandro Trossard, Björn Ulvaeus (ABBA), and many more, Ravi aimed to raise £250,000 in support of The Brain Tumour Charity and brainstrust.

Continuing his mission, Ravi’s Dream will come to life on June 11th at Worthing FC, where the Vanarama Conference side will host a day of football at their 3000-capacity ground. The event will feature a kids’ 7-a-side tournament followed by a mixed-gender adult match. Ravi’s ‘Dream Team’ includes notable figures such as Romy Madley Croft (The xx), Jimi Famurewa (Masterchef), Joe Mount (Metronomy), Seye Adelekan (Gorillaz), Michael Odewale (Comedian), Jamie Kenna (Coronation Street), Denai Moore (Musician), and Ola Labib (Comedian). They will face off against the Preston Park Panthers community team in a light-hearted kickaround, with Ravi himself managing the team alongside his Sunday League coach Toby Gosling as his assistant. This event is Ravi’s own version of Soccer Aid, showcasing his passion for football.

Despite battling a brain tumour himself, Ravi has been amazed by the overwhelming response to his campaign. To date, the initiative has raised over £78,000 and has allowed Ravi to share his story on various platforms, captivating audiences on ITV’s This Morning, BBC Breakfast News, ITV Meridian News, The Adam Buxton Podcast, Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6Music show, and even gracing the cover of The Week Junior magazine.

With unwavering determination, Ravi is committed to reaching his £250,000 fundraising goal, and the upcoming event on June 11th will mark a significant step forward in achieving this mission.
