Indian education trust and non-profit organization, Agastya International Foundation, is set to release a new book titled “The Moving of Mountains” on February 22, 2024. The book, written by Agastya trustee Adhirath Sethi, provides an insider’s perspective on the organization’s remarkable origins and the individuals who have dedicated their resources and efforts to make a difference.
The foundation’s mission is to spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and build confidence among economically disadvantaged children and teachers in India. Since its inception in 1999, Agastya has become one of the most remarkable social enterprise stories in the world, founded by a team of scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs led by Ramji Raghavan.
In an interview, Sethi shared his inspiration for writing the book, stating, “Agastya’s story is unique and highly inspirational. It offers a multitude of learnings that can be applied not only in the non-profit space, but also for anyone looking to build a world-class institution from the ground up. However, delving deeper into the organization’s journey, one discovers a plethora of anecdotes that highlight the humanity at the core of Agastya. Together, these factors make a compelling argument for a tale that simply must be told.”
The book includes photographs and interviews with key individuals involved in starting and growing Agastya, showcasing the organization’s commitment to humanity, compassion, and positive change in society.
Sethi, a businessman and author, was formerly a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. He currently serves as a director of Poly Fluoro Ltd, his family’s business in India, and as a trustee of Agastya.
