A West Yorkshire-based entrepreneur has launched a business to support companies with graphic design, branding, and animation.
Dan Jowett, an experienced graphic designer with 16 years’ industry experience, has launched his business, Pixel Lab following redundancy from his role at a Leeds-based creative design agency.
Offering a full suite of graphic design services for businesses to ensure they have stand-out branding on packaging, online and across all other aspects of design as well as social media graphics and animations, Dan is also an artist, helping people’s loved ones come to life via pencil drawings of family members and pets.
Seeking the freedom to work creatively and independently, Dan launched Pixel Lab at the end of July and has already gained work with a number of fellow start-ups and SMEs.
Dan plans to extend his experience in the food and drink industry where he has previously worked on brands including the Co-op’s food packaging, Saltaire Brewery and Nestle.
Dan comments:
“I’m sure there are people who think I’m crazy for launching a business in the middle of a global pandemic but for me it was the right time. My dad was an entrepreneur and there was always a part of me which wanted to work for myself but the safety of a regular payslip from employment kept me in a safe position. When that changed, I realised it was now or never.
With Dan’s employer struggling when the UK was put into lockdown, Dan was put on furlough in April. Keen to keep himself busy and his mind active on furlough, Dan launched a t-shirt design business, Pixel Tees, uploading his designs to third party sites, Teespring and Redbubble.
Dan continued:
“Developing and marketing my own t-shirt designs through social media gave me a real taster for taking charge of my own destiny. The feeling of a stranger buying my design to wear was fantastic.
“I’m continuing to develop further t-shirt designs and create drawings whilst building up Pixel Lab’s customers to support businesses with stand-out graphic design.
“It has never been more important to do something you love and for businesses to standout and showcase what they do and what they stand for; this is something I’m excited to help people bring to life.”
As part of its launch, Pixel Lab is offering a free 1-2-1 design consultation and one social media graphic for every enquiry received between now and the end of September 2020.
