The creators behind Market, the iconic workspace in Peckham, are delighted to introduce their new sister brand: Cornerhouse. This new addition at 133a Rye Lane has transformed the ground floor into a lively café, bar, small food hall, and event space, officially launched this summer.
Cornerhouse is dedicated to showcasing small local businesses while providing the community with a central spot to eat, drink, work, and socialise on Rye Lane. During the week, the café and a variety of food traders offer special working brunch and lunch menus, supported by solid WiFi and bookable meeting spaces, catering to both in-house workers and the wider working community. The space buzzes with energy in the evenings and weekends, featuring a lineup of skilled chefs, bartenders, DJs, makers, traders, and collaborators who bring their unique styles and creativity. Current traders include The Porch, Nativo, Greek Kitchen, Young Nola and Taco Taco.
Inspired by the historic Lyon’s Tea Rooms and Corner Houses, which were among the building’s original occupants over a century ago, Cornerhouse continues the tradition of being a community hub. Traditionally, ‘corner houses’ were places for people to share news, reconnect with neighbours, or meet new friends.
August events at Cornerhouse include a Carnival warm-up party with Mister S, a courtyard Seafood Boil with Young Nola, and regular DJ sets from residents such as Handson Family and Talia A Darling.
The Handson Family said, “We have always been looking to do something locally, having done things all over London. It’s just beautiful to do something on your doorstep.”
Cornerhouse provides a versatile space for those working locally, socialising, treating family, or celebrating with friends, open both day and night.
