Conservative Party devises plan to rally support from small and medium enterprise supporters in final effort to sway election outcome

Conservative Party Set to Unveil Letter from Small Business-Owners in Last-Ditch Effort to Win Over Voters

The Conservative Party is expected to release a letter on Wednesday, signed by between 100 and 150 small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) bosses, in an effort to convince undecided voters that they can be trusted to lead Britain’s economy.

According to sources, the letter will highlight the potential risks to businesses under a Labour government and will be published on the final day before the general election. The content of the letter and the names of the signatories have not yet been disclosed.

One business-owner, who was approached to sign the letter but declined, expressed surprise at the lack of emphasis on the differences between the two main parties’ stances on potential capital gains tax changes during the campaign.

Insiders have described this move as a “last-ditch bid” by the Tories to counter the momentum behind Labour, which has garnered support from business leaders through a series of letters during the election campaign. However, one of these letters faced criticism for featuring the name of only one FTSE-100 chair or CEO – Andrew Higginson, Chairman of JD Sports Fashion. Another letter focused on proposed reforms to the Apprenticeship Levy.

Letters endorsed by business leaders have become a common feature in UK political campaigns, with the Conservative Party historically receiving significant support from prominent figures. The absence of such a letter during this campaign has been perceived as a reflection of the party’s poor performance in the polls and its recent record in government.

The Conservative Party declined to comment on the upcoming letter. Stay tuned for live updates on the general election.
