“Codasip Introduces Flexible Automotive-Grade Embedded RISC-V Core”

Codasip Introduces New L730 Core for Automotive Safety and Security Compliance

Munich, Germany – Codasip®, the leader in RISC-V Custom Compute, has announced its latest product, the L730 core. This high-performance embedded core is specifically designed to meet the needs of the automotive industry, offering a wide range of capabilities through its high configurability, optional safety mechanisms, and advanced security features.

The Codasip L730 core is engineered to meet the rigorous safety and security standards required for ISO/SAE 21434 and ISO 26262 compliance up to the ASIL D integrity level. With optional safety mechanisms and advanced security features, the core provides system engineers with unparalleled flexibility while ensuring fully verified and supported core IP.

One of the key features of the Codasip L730 core is its ability to be configured and customized through risk-free custom instruction extensions. This is made possible by the new Bounded Customization level in Codasip Studio™ Fusion, which guarantees the functionality of the baseline core in all cases through defined bounds and formal methods. Additionally, Codasip Studio Fusion generates a verification framework that simplifies the verification of custom instructions.

The core also supports the RISC-V Scalar Crypto Extension and will offer the advanced memory safety technology CHERI for state-of-the-art security.

According to Jamie Broome, chief product officer at Codasip, the automotive industry is increasingly turning to RISC-V to address its need for innovation while maintaining technical and commercial control. “Trust is the key challenge we face in this sector, and it is therefore crucial to work with a vendor that understands this and also offers unique possibilities for innovation,” said Broome. “Our Custom Compute approach provides exactly this. We recognize the importance of combining leading design methodology with best-practice safety mechanisms, advanced security features, and verified core quality.”

The Codasip L730 core is part of the highly flexible 700 processor family, which includes embedded and application cores to cover a wide range of use cases. For smaller, power-sensitive applications, Codasip offers the best-in-class L110 core.

Codasip’s Custom Compute offering is enabled by Codasip Studio Fusion, a unique set of tools for optimizing processors for specific software applications. The Codasip Studio Fusion toolset offers a variety of benefits, all of which are reflected in the new L730 core. Customers can choose to configure the core from a defined set of pre-verified options, create custom instructions within set bounds, or design freely based on their specific needs and the results of software application profiling performed in Codasip Studio Fusion. Moreover, Codasip Studio Fusion can automatically generate an SDK (Software Development Toolkit) and an HDK (Hardware Development Kit) to support software and hardware development.
