Co2Analysis Joins Forces with Advanced Systems and Technologies (ATM) to Implement Carbon Accounting Initiatives in Saudi Arabia and the MENA Region

Last Updated on: 5th March 2024, 03:35 pm

[atm], headquartered in Saudi Arabia, unveiled their latest service offering at the IBE Procurement 24 event held in Riyadh.

Recognised as a major exporter of energy, Saudi Arabia plays a vital role in upholding the stability of global energy supplies, while also acknowledging the imperative need for collaborative efforts in addressing climate change. The pursuit of a sustainable future is a universally shared goal. With an ambition to improve the quality of life and protect the welfare of succeeding generations both domestically and internationally, Saudi Arabia has launched the “Saudi Green” initiative. This initiative orchestrates a collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, and international leaders under two environmental programs, aimed at identifying and implementing rapid climate action strategies.

To aid in the realisation of these transformative projects, [atm] has formed a partnership with CO2Analysis to deliver in-depth carbon accounting services to the principal businesses and governmental agencies within Saudi Arabia. CO2Analysis specialises in an AI-driven carbon accounting system, primarily focusing on Scope 3 emissions, which pertain to emissions from purchased goods and services. It’s noteworthy that a significant portion of emissions from large organizations, exceeding 80%, falls under Scope 3. Since its establishment in 2010, CO2Analysis has scrutinised over $2.5 trillion in detailed expenditures on customer products and services across 150 nations and 32 different currencies, making it the most comprehensive worldwide repository for Scope 3 detailed data. This extensive database, combined with the proven efficacy of the AI engine, ensures that Saudi entities can rapidly progress from data analysis to implementing strategies for carbon footprint reduction in alignment with their 2030 objectives.

Founded in 1997, [atm] is an engineering consultancy firm that specialises in assisting organizations with the creation of both enterprise and cloud-based innovative solutions. It has supported various public and private sector entities in Saudi Arabia from the outset. [atm] has been crucial in introducing a plethora of innovations and localised content to the region and has pinpointed carbon accounting as a vital service to be offered to its customers moving forward.

Yasser AlFarhan, CEO of [atm], stated, “Our customers have become increasingly interested in sustainability and making measurable progress in decarbonisation. This partnership brings an established carbon footprint accounting service to the region, which operates at the level of detail needed to make meaningful change for our customers. With the deadline of 2030, there is no time to waste and the CO2Analysis solution can analyze $1bn in 2 days, meaning that our customers can immediately move to action.”

Lyn Duncan, CEO of CO2Analysis, commented, “We are delighted to partner with [atm] for carbon accounting, we have had a long relationship with them helping bring innovative technology to the Kingdom and are confident that their expertise and capability will ensure a rapid uptake for the solution. Saudi is modernizing fast and sustainability is at the heart of the 2030 vision, we are excited to be part of that journey.”
