CIBSE and Construction Carbon Join Forces to Offer Environmental Training for Construction Projects

Construction Carbon, a leading carbon verification company, has announced a new collaboration with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) to develop the Lifecycle Carbon Assessor Practitioner Training program. The course, set to launch in May 2025, aims to standardize assessments within the construction industry and has been supported by Amazon.

With a growing demand for skilled professionals who can consistently assess and mitigate the environmental impact of construction projects, this groundbreaking initiative aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively evaluate and report on the whole life carbon impact of buildings. The program, designed by industry experts, will consist of online modules and a formal examination, with successful participants receiving a formal certificate.

The foundation level of the training is currently available for free and has already been completed by over 500 students. The CIBSE Lifecycle Carbon Assessor Practitioner Training program will be officially announced at the Futurebuild Conference on March 5th, with over 180 applicants already pre-enrolled. Interested individuals can register for the program on the CIBSE website.

CEO of Construction Carbon, Gilbert Lennox-King, expressed his excitement for the partnership with CIBSE Training and other supporters, stating that it represents a significant step forward in their mission to simplify decarbonisation in the construction industry. He also highlighted the importance of empowering professionals with the skills to assess lifecycle impacts consistently, in order to create a more sustainable future.

CIBSE, known for its expertise in building services engineering and professional development, will play a crucial role in delivering the training program. Simon Parker, Managing Director of CIBSE Services, emphasized the importance of equipping industry professionals with the necessary skills to address sustainability challenges. He also noted that this program will build on CIBSE’s previous work on embodied carbon in building services.

As a co-founder of The Climate Pledge, Amazon is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2040. Their support for this program further demonstrates their dedication to sustainability and addressing climate change.

Interested individuals are encouraged to visit the CIBSE website for more information and to secure their place in this program. For inquiries, please contact CIBSE Training at training@cibse.org or Construction Carbon at hello@constructioncarbon.com.
