BT’s London Headquarters recently served as the venue for a significant celebration, acknowledging the commendable achievements of youths who have experienced care. The highlight of this gathering was the keynote speech delivered by Jaz Ampaw-Farr, whose own upbringing in foster care has shaped her into a prominent figure as a motivational speaker, educator, and co-founder of Be Human First Ltd.
Her personal narrative of overcoming adversity, combined with her roles as a TV presenter and comedian, resonated deeply with the audience, encouraging young individuals to pursue their dreams relentlessly.
In her address, Jaz Ampaw-Farr remarked, “There are lots of reasons children end up in care, and absolutely none of them include the child being broken! The skills I learned navigating foster homes, education, and homelessness as a child and teenager are the same skills I applied in my journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur. I’m honoured to be part of these awards and shine a light on the fantastic work of The Virtual School.”
Her life story, marked by resilience and a belief in the transformative power of education and self-confidence, serves as a beacon of hope for many. Ampaw-Farr’s engaging presence and dedication to making a difference have made her a celebrated speaker across continents.
Her collaborative work with public figures such as Rachel de Souza, Lemm Sissay, and Kriss Akabusi highlights her commitment to advocacy and empowerment.
Through Be Human First Ltd, Ampaw-Farr promotes empathy and personal growth, and her soon-to-be-released book, “Because Of You This Is Me,” offers insights into overcoming life’s challenges. Additionally, a documentary by Nosco Films about her life’s journey is set to inspire many across the UK.
