Gießen – A new prestigious award has been announced in the field of medical research, with a prize money of one million euros, which is higher than the Nobel Prize for Medicine. The Broermann Medical Innovation Award, established in 2024, aims to recognize and honor pioneering work in medicine, biotechnology, and related fields.
The nomination period for the award has officially begun and will be open until March 1, 2025. Scientists from around the world are invited to submit their groundbreaking research through the nomination portal at www.broermann-award.org/nomination/. This highly endowed award, sponsored by Broermann gemeinnützige GmbH and managed by the University Hospital Giessen and Marburg (UKGM), aims to highlight the importance of research in improving the lives and health of millions of people worldwide.
The Broermann Medical Innovation Award was created to honor the vision and commitment of Dr. Bernard große Broermann, the founder of Asklepios Kliniken. According to Prof. Werner Seeger, Chairman of the Award Committee, “With this award, we want to recognize and promote groundbreaking medical discoveries that have the potential to make a real impact in the prevention or treatment of diseases.” For Prof. Friedrich Grimminger, Medical Director of UKGM, this award reflects the clear conviction of the company founder that “scientific excellence in medicine is always an international team effort, and the genius of individual researchers should be acknowledged and promoted worldwide.”
Nominations for the Broermann Medical Innovation Award can be submitted until March 1, 2025. The winner will be announced in December 2025 at the Hessian State Chancellery in Wiesbaden by the incumbent Hessian Minister President.
