‘£122 drop in energy prices not a sign of stability’ says Energy Saving Trust head Mike Thornton
Energy prices are expected to rise again in the autumn, despite last week’s announcement of a cut in the cap from July, according to Mike Thornton, the head of the Energy Saving Trust. The cap, which will fall to £1,568 a year from 1 July, is a drop of £122 from the previous quarter. Thornton welcomed the news, but cautioned against seeing it as a sign of stability. He emphasized that forecasts show energy prices will continue to rise in the long term, and urged the next UK government, to be decided in the general election on 4 July, to focus on policies that promote energy efficiency in homes.
McDonald’s customers complain about ‘naughty’ price difference in new deal
McDonald’s customers have taken to social media to express their frustration over a price difference in one of the fast food giant’s new deals. The new mix and match deal allows in-store customers to purchase three items for just £3. However, online customers have found that the same deal costs £4. Some have called the price difference “naughty” and questioned why it is more expensive on the app. McDonald’s has confirmed that the price difference is due to delivery fees charged by couriers such as Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Just Eat, which is a common practice in the industry.
