Creative Mentor Network, a charity committed to promoting socioeconomic diversity in the creative industry, is hosting a free workshop in their co-working spaces in the Lanes on Wednesday 14th June. The workshop, titled ‘Socioeconomic Diversity in Creative Industries: Who’s Missing?’, will explore the current state of socioeconomic diversity within the creative industries and give businesses insight into the barriers preventing certain demographics from entering the industry.
The interactive session will provide attendees with ideas about the changes their businesses could make to become more socioeconomically diverse. This is the third mentorship programme Creative Mentor Network has run in partnership with Soho House at Brighton Beach House; the first two cohorts have been a great success.
Penelope Richards, a mentee from the Soho Mentorship Brighton project, said: “I think living in Brighton is one the more special places you could explore your creative career, it’s so unique in the way that people express themselves.” Mary Kate Trevaskis, owner of The Tape Agency and a mentor for Soho Mentorship Brighton, added: “What I’ve learnt from Creative Mentor Network was how privileged my opportunities were because I had people that really wanted to inspire me into the creative arts who didn’t mind that I said I don’t know what I want to do and I want to experiment. I had connections that could help me find placements and to get started with work experience.”
The workshop will take place from 11am-12pm on Wednesday 14th June. To register, visit the Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/socioeconomic-diversity-in-creative-industries-whos-missing-tickets-627921569317
